Annette Funicello did not only sing and act, but also acted. She was most well-known as one of the Mickey Mouse Club's "Mouseketeers". Her career in singing began when she was an adolescent. Annette was born in Utica to Italian parents. As a child she was prone to shyness. She wished to build a career in the entertainment business, and quickly switched the stage and began to dance. Mid-1950s she gained significant recognition for her appearances on "Disney" sketches. Annette's "Disney" persona was discarded after she turned an adult and began playing adult roles. The most recognizable role she played was in the role of the pioneer of the concept of a beach party. Her roles included 'Pajama Party', 'How to stuff a wild bikini', and 'Beach Party'.
